They would seem to be a dying breed.
Every now and then though I catch a glimpse.
The one who has their face to the window of the train, soaking in the passing landscape.
The ones you see walking for leisure not calorie counting, able to enjoy the fresh air on their face instead of rushing through their workout, stopping to pick a small flower bursting from a crack in the footpath.
Children playing in a park and just one of them slows to look up at the clouds skidding across the sky, taking in the cumulous and cirrus formations.
The leaf chasers on a crisp autumn day.
In a world that is intent on moving faster, there seems to be a predilection that if you don’t post about it on your social media, it’s not validated or significant.
Some of the most valuable people today might not be the ones you expect. They rarely make headlines. They are what I call ‘The Noticers.’
The ones looking around, looking up and out, seeing small details, finding gratitude in the simplest and most mundane of things.
They are not surface dwellers!
Often a little quiet, they are the kind of people that will always ask how you are first, listening without interrupting, taking in your body cues to read what you aren’t saying.
They will send you a quick note to tell you they are thinking of you, and no matter how frenetic life gets, will pause to savour a conversation, a meal, a steaming mug of tea.
It is a form of deep listening and empathy, a way of "rescuing" life from the mundane by understanding that in the seemingly insignificant, we can find the most profound connections and insights.
I’m hoping this year to grow in my noticing.
To see and act on small ways I can elevate the ordinary for myself and those around me.
We aim at Havenwood to be a company that thinks not only about form and function in our builds, but the small ways we can enhance flow in our homes with minor details to improve daily life.
Maybe this is the year you decide to notice more!
In other news, we have only a couple of builds complete and available right now for purchase.
An 8.2m Jackson. an 8.2m Dawson and a 7.2m Dawson under construction, and an 8.2m Elliott model which is heading down to Mornington VIC for the Tiny Home Expo March 27-29.
If any of these builds are your cup of tea, give Toby a call on 0413340386 today to put your name on it!
